The 2008 Liberty English Camps

Our Students...
...have historically come from the former Soviet bloc, mostly Lithuania and Belarus. Now we are moving into new countries, still aiming to attract local students who seek intensive discussion in English of the theory, practice, and history of political liberty and free markets. Together, we will explore ways of applying classical liberal principles to real-life projects such as starting a business, or publishing books and articles in English. Students will also enjoy meeting and forming new networks with their peers in nearby countries.
...are mostly university or post-graduate level; a few are in high school; some are older and attend the camp to continue their education, often bringing young children to combine family vacation with exposure to English.

Our Teachers...
...would more accurately be called "discussion leaders" or "facilitators", as their role is to stimulate meaningful conversation with students about classical liberal ideas and their application to everyday life.
...are all volunteers looking to spend a vacation doing something interesting and meaningful. They get an exposure to the people and cultures of developing countries that no travel agency could provide. The intense, informal atmosphere and camaraderie of the camp always foster new friendships, and many teachers and students return year after year.
...range in age from their twenties to their eighties. Our oldest teacher, who has attended most of our camps, describes the experience as "The happiest time of my life."
