LIBERTY ENGLISH CAMP 2005, TRAKAI, LITHUANIA by Anna Tokar If you want to spend some wonderful time with interesting people, take advantage of having a good rest, and becoming better-educated at the same time, the Liberty English Camp is the very place for it. This year it was attended by people of different ages, professions, and interests. But we all were united by our aspiration towards liberty. Among the students were those who had just become familiar with the ideas of objectivism and with the basics of liberal theory, as well as those who had been involved in libertarian activities for years. This year was the fourth time I have participated in the camp. I have developed real friends here from various countries, and it is always the biggest pleasure to see them again and to meet new ones. The camp has been organized in a truly libertarian way: students are involved in developing their study programme and activities. That is the good thing. The bad thing is that they mostly agree with the teachers! But as the spirit of individualism and objectivism is awakened in their souls, they make their suggestions more and more often. Every day we have lectures, and discussions which do not stop after the lecture is finished. We continue our disputes at the campfire, which is held every evening. We swim at midnight, and then go have some tea with cakes together till 1 or 2 a.m. We can say good night to each other only when eyes are completely closed and body moves are slowed-down. |
