LIBERTY ENGLISH CAMP 2007, Daugai, Lithuania -- Camp Schedule

Download Schedule as PDF file   Download Schedule as Word file

Day One -- 1 July

Teachers and organizers arrive in Vilnius; spend late afternoon - evening together informally, getting acquainted over dinner, and spend the night at a local hotel.

Day Two -- 2 July

Teachers/organizers go to camp location (at Daugai) together by bus in the morning, unpack, set up, look around. In mid-late afternoon, there's an organization/orientation meeting, which may include practice sessions/role playing for new teachers, to get comfortable with the camp "teaching style". Students arrive by late afternoon, in time for a welcome BBQ/campfire and brief orientation.

Day Three -- 3 July

First full day of class sessions. Each session is one hour -- two in the morning, two in the afternoon. Between breakfast and the first session, we may have guest speakers or other special presentations.

We have four "class periods" and four teachers (minimum), so we divide the students into four groups. Every hour, the student groups move to a different teacher (like US high school). Each teacher repeats the same "lesson" for each group, and teaches a different lesson each day.

Day Four -- 4 July

Second day of class. This might actually be only half day, with the afternoon devoted to a tour to see the local sights, with the afternoon lessons to be made up another day. Although the camp is not an "American event", we will all celebrate freedom together today with a fireworks display over the lake.

Day Five -- 5 July

Third day of class. This might be a full day, or another half day consisting of the lessons remaining from Day Four. A free afternoon could be used to prepare for debates. Evening activities include debates, movies, campfires, and informal music-making.

Day Six -- 6 July

Fourth full day of class. Similar to the previous day.

Day Seven -- 7 July

Fifth full day of class. Since this is the final full day together, we will have a closing program in the evening, including a BBQ, campfire, talent show, and awards.

Day Eight -- 8 July

Departure day. After breakfast, we will organize a day's sightseeing trip to Trakai and Vilnius, for those who are interested and don't need to rush to the airport.
